At this mornings Business Breakfast with Mayor Fennell excitement was in the air as the Mayor and the Guest Speaker Omar Rashid, Director Municipal Government Strategy, Microsoft Canada spoke confidently about Brampton and its future. Mr. Rashid gave us insight into Brampton’s website. It seems that it was awarded the Most Innovative Website at a conference in Spain and the Best Use of Social Media at a conference in Norway. He described it as unique because the City Focuses on Customer Service Strategy treating residents as customers and not just on Citizens.
He also praised Mayor Fennell for addressing the Ash Center for Democratic Governance at Harvard. Mayor Fennell also addressed 36,000 employees of Microsoft.
We also had an update on the Launch of the ZUM bus. The Queen St. Service from Downtown to York University will launch September 20, 2010. The Main St. Service from Sandalwood to Square One will launch in Fall 2011 and the Steeles Service from Shoppers World to Humber College will begin in 2012.
The Mayor invited everyone to come out to the Investor Group Thursday Night Concert Series at Gage Park this Thursday Night. This is the last in the series featuring The Brampton Concert Band and The Lorne Scots.
She also invited everyone to The Second Annual Charity Pancake Breakfast served by all of the Brampton City Council on Saturday September 11, during the Brampton Farmers’ Market to help raise funds in support of the Asian Flood relief. Enjoy two large pancakes with real maple syrup and coffee or juice for just $5.00.
